In Which Country Will the 2022 Commonwealth Games to be held ?

Now this year, England are host the 2022 Commonwealth Games from 28th July to 8th August, 2022 in Birmingham. This is the 22nd edition of this one of the biggest multi sports event. It will be 11 days long sports ,covering 20 sports where 5, 404 athletes coming from 72 nations.

Commonwealth Games 2022 Opening Ceremony

The CWG 2022 Opening Ceremony takes place at the Alexander stadium on 28 July, 2022, with all 72 countries within the Commonwealth. For Barbados, it will be their first participation since becoming a republic on 30 November 2021.

CWG 2022 Closing Ceremony

The Closing Ceremony takes place on 8 August, 2022. The Commonwealth Games Federation flag will be handed over to representatives of Victoria, the hosts of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

How many sports are there in the Commonwealth Games 2022 ?

In October 2020, the final number of events to be played in Birmingham were revealed. There will be 283 finals played across 20 sports. There will be the first time in the history of a major multi sporting event that this has happened. In addition 13 mixed events will be contested as some new relays are included on athletics and in swimming.

Along with the cricket tournament, the number of events available to elite athletes with disabilities has also increased from 36 to 42, as the universal relays are added on athletics and swimming, along the first wheelchair basketball tournament on the Games history.

Some events will be part of the event for the first time, such as the 3*3 basketball and its wheelchair counterpart. It is expected that this edition will have the largest number of events available for women and athletes with disabilities in the history of the Games.

Commonwealth Games 2022 Tickets

Over 1 million tickets are expected to be issued for the games. A ticket Ballot for local residents opened on 14 July, 2021with the main public ticket ballot expected to run from 8 to 30 September. Tickets for the Games are now open to the public, starting at Euro 8 for children and from Euro 15 for adults.

Organisers are advertising the availability of Euro 22 tickets for each event and free viewing is available for the marathone, cycling road race, cycling time trial, triathlon and cycling mountain bike events.

Tickets are available from the official website of 2022 CWG Birmingham. Tickets for Aquatics – Swimming, Cycling – Mountain Biking, Cycling Time Trial, Cycling Road Race, Gymnastics – Artistic & Triathlon & Para Triathlon are now resale tickets only. Tickets for all other sports are still available.

Official Ticket Resale Platform

The Birmingham 2022 CWG official ticket resale platform gives people who have purchased tickets to the Games the chance to list their tickets for resale if they can no longer attend. Relisted tickets will then be made available to the public to purchase at face value.

Commonwealth Games 2022 Venue

Birmingham 2022 will take place in 15 venues spread across the West Midlands region, with seven of them, including the athletics stadium and marathon route, being located in the city of Birmingham. The National Exhibition Centre complex, located on the fringes of the city in neighbouring Solihull, will play host to the Games both in its exhibition halls and at the NEC Arena. The six other regional hosts are Coventry, Cannock Chase, Royal Leamington Spa, Sandwell, Warwick and Wolverhampton. In November, 2019 Sky New Zealand acquired the rights to broadcast 2022 & 2026 CWG Games in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Later than production company Sunset + Vine was appointed as the host broadcasters for the event. In October, 2020 BBC acquired the rights to broadcast the event in the United Kingdom. In October, 2021 Seven Network acquired the rights to broadcast the 2022 Birmingham CWG in Australia .

CWG 2022 marketing is a long running campaign that began, when Birmingham won its bid to host the games in 2017.

Emblem

The official emblem of Commonwealth Games 2022 was unveiled on 27th July 2019. It was designed by local agency RBL, based in Royal Leamington Spa and the emblem is a jagged. This emblem is also the first use the new branding for the CGF, now branded as Commonwealth Sport.

Sponsors

The official Partners of the 2022 Commonwealth Games are Longines, University of Birmingham, E.ON, Chase, Severn Trent and Dettol.

Longines, a Swiss watchmaker, agreed to be the official partner and time keeper for the next three editions of the Games, beginning in Birmingham in 2022. The BOCCG unveiled the University of Birmingham as the second official partner of the Games.

On 9th March 2022, E.ON was unveiled as the third Partner of the Games.

Mascot

2022 Commonwealth Games Mascot | 2022 CWG Live

The official mascot for the Commonwealth Games 2022 Birmingham is Perry, a multi coloured bull. The bull has a long history with being a symbol of Birmingham and was positively received by the public on launch. Perry was designed by ten year old Emma Lou from Bolton.

How can i purchase tickets from Birmingham 2022 ?

Tickets go on general sale from 2 December 2021. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis and payment will be taken immediately at checkout. For each session, there will be an availabilty indicator, showing which sessions have the fewest seats remaining.

Can under 18’s purchase tickets ?

No. You must be at least 18 years of age to register a ticketing account.

What are the rules for purchasing tickets ?

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and please ensure that the lead booker’s billing and payment address is the same.
