2022 Commonwealth Games will be held between 28 July to 8 August, this year Birmingham, England. Canada is scheduled to compete at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. This will be Canada’s 22nd appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having competed at every games, since their inception in 1930.

Canada is expected to compete in all sports except Cricket, Netball & Powerlifting. In 2018, Team Canada came away with two gold medals, six silver and one bronze. LePage and Brown are the only two returning medallists for Team Canada on the track. while Alysha Newman (pole vault) and Christabel Nettey (long jump) return to defend their 2018 Commonwealth Games medals for Canada on the field side.

Athletes were selected to the team based on their proximity, in World Athletics points, to the AC standard in their respective events. The standards set by Athletics Canada were calculated using the average of the previous top-three performances among Commonwealth nation over the 2018, 2019 and 2021 competition seasons (2020 season excluded due to pandemic).

The athletics events at the Commonwealth Games will begin on July 30 at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham and end with the women’s and men’s 4x400m relay on Sunday, Aug. 7.

Men’s 10 km race walk: Evan Dunfee

Women’s 4x400m relay: Kyra Constantine, Natassha McDonald, Lauren Gale, Aiyanna Stiverne, Zoe Sherar

Men’s 4x100m relay: Andre De Grasse, Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, Brendon Rodney, Malachi Murray

Men’s decathlon: Pierce LePage

Men’s 400m hurdles: Malik Metivier

Women’s 800m: Lindsey Butterworth, Madeleine Kelly

Women’s 1,500m: Lucia Stafford

Men’s 1,500m: William Paulson

Women’s 100m hurdles: Michelle Harrison

Men’s 3,000m steeplechase: John Gay

Women’s 400m hurdles: Noelle Montcalm

Women’s 5,000m: Julie-Anne Staehli
