Wales fans face a nine-hour round trip to watch the Hockey World Cup in India

Wales fans attending next month’s Men’s Hockey World Cup in Rourkela and Bhubaneswar will face a grueling NINE hour round trip just to watch the games, The Hockey Diary can reveal.

A group of 17 Welsh supporters say a lack of hotels in Rourkela has forced the hardened party to book rooms 100 miles away in Ranchi and catch an overnight train to attend matches. Rob Furlong, one of the Welsh supporters traveling to India, said The Hockey Diaryβ€œIt was interesting. We realized very quickly that Rourkela did not offer hotels.

Wales will make history by playing their first-ever Men’s World Cup game against England on January 13 – the first major international match at the new Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium – before facing Spain two days later. Next comes their final group match against hosts India in Bhubaneshwar
