Singapore to send 330 competitors to SEA Games in Hanoi

Singapore is relied upon to send 330 competitors to the forthcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam this year, with previous taekwondo competitor S Sinnathurai filling in as boss de mission. The 31st SEA Games will happen in Hanoi from May 12 to 23, with 526 occasions challenged across 40 games. It was initially planned for 2021 however was deferred because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) choice board met on Wednesday (Feb 16) to consider the designations set forward by the public games affiliations, it said in a news discharge. “At a gathering led by the SNOC President, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, the council settled on the competitors who will address Singapore at the Games,” it said.

Ms Asmah, who filled in as the games group director at the 2014 Asian Games and Youth Olympics, said she trusts her experience as a mentor, competitor and instructor can “help to carry worth to the group and add to a positive SEA Games crusade in Hanoi”.

Singapore’s biggest away unforeseen contended at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, comprising of 659 competitors across 48 games. Its best decoration pull came in 2015, when it facilitated the SEA Games; the group stowed 84 gold, 73 silver and 102 bronze awards.

Its best away SEA Games pull was at the 2017 release in Kuala Lumpur, where the group won 58 gold, 59 silver and 71 bronze awards.
